Yes, it did.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a new virus named SARS-CoV-2.

As more than 70,000 people visit Jim Corbett National Park every year it will be difficult to control the situation if some serious steps weren’t taken.

As the nation makes drastic changes to everyday life to slow the spread of the coronavirus, many national and state parks are closing to the public.

Park closed for the safety of people

As Jim Corbett National park is such a famous spot for tourist attraction both locally and globally so to avoid large gatherings of people inside the park and to prevent the spreading of the novel coronavirus the park has been closed till 31st March 2020 till further notice.

The closure is to prevent the spread of the contagious virus.

Coronaviruses occur in virtually every species of animal, including humans, and are commonly associated with intestinal and respiratory infections.

They tend to be very species-specific, and cross-species transmission is uncommon.

Chief Wildlife Warden Rajiv Bharatari said that all tourism activities in national parks, wildlife sanctuaries, zoos, and tiger reserves in Uttarakhand are closed from March 17 to March 31.

Filming and research activities at these facilities have also been prohibited till March 31 under Section 28 of the Wildlife (Conservation) Act 1972.

This order applies to the famous Rajaji Tiger Reserve, Corbett Tiger Reserve, Gangotri National Park, Bingo and Binsar wildlife sanctuaries in Uttarakhand.

This all is done to keep people safe from the deadly virus because in a country so densely populated as India it will be difficult to control the situation if the virus finds its way into thousands of people.

Corbett Tiger Reserve Director stated that tourists will be refunded for the bookings made for this period. So if you had some reservations made during this period you don’t need to worry about your money.
