The park was in the news recently when the Director of Jim Corbett National Park told the Media that the union minister for environment, forest and climate change, Ashwani Kumar Choubey who visited Jim Corbett National Park on October 3 said that the name of this national park will be changed to Ramganga National Park.

On the one hand, some feel that the park should be named after its most iconic feature, the Ramganga river. And as this park is located in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, which is home to a large number of Hindu pilgrims.

As a result, many people believe that the park should be renamed something that reflects the local culture and history.

They argue that this would be more reflective of the park’s natural beauty and would be more marketable to tourists. According to the officials of the Park approximately 3 lakh tourists visit this national park every year and the park earns around Rs. 10 crores from tourism.

On the other hand, some feel that the park should retain its original name in honour of Jim Corbett.

They argue that he was instrumental in saving the park from development and that changing the name would be a slap in the face to his legacy.

Whereas some people believe that the park should retain its original name, as it is a well-known tourist destination. Others believe that the name change would be a positive step towards promoting cultural sensitivity.

There has been much debate over the park’s name change, with some people arguing that it is a form of political correctness and that the park should be renamed back to its original name.

The politics of the name change are complex, but it is generally believed that the change was made to appease the hunter and conservationist community, who were strong supporters of Jim Corbett.

Official Statement About Name Change of the Park
