Dhela Zone is the newest zone of the Jim Corbett National Park which has one FRH called the Dhela Forest rest house. Entry gate for this Zone is Dhela Gate which is located on the periphery of Dhela Village which is 20kms from Ramnagar, Uttrakhand. Entry Gate for this Zone is same as Jhirna zone. Dhela Zone has very beautiful landscape and with diversity of flora and fauna. This zone has a single forest lodge which consists of two double bed rooms so if you are a peace and privacy lover then this zone is best zone to stay. This zone has large population of sloth bear tigers, king cobras, asiatic elephants and monkyes, which can be seen through out the year. You can also spot some leopards here and tigers if you are lucky.

This zone is open throughout the year (depends on weather and road conditions) along with Jhirna zone. Dhela zone covers 1,173 hectares of area of national park. This is called as Buffer zone because it is the outer zone and very near to the Dhela village. Dhela Zone consists mainly mixed forests of Sal, Haldup, Kusum, Bahera and Rohini as its primary vegetation. This zone has diversity of wild animals and birds. You can spot many kinds of birds here and this makes this zone a paradise for the bird lovers.

Accommodation at Dhela Forest Rest House

The FRH available at Dhela is listed as following:-

Dhela FRH This forest lodge has 2 double bed rooms available with all the basic amenities.

There are all the basic amenities (electricity by Solar panels, water, etc) available in this forest lodge but if you are looking for a luxury break then you will be disappointed and it would be better if you book your stay outside of National Park in a Resort. Also, there is bad reception of any cellular networks inside the National Park and you will not be provided any Wi-fi facility. Please keep these things in mind while visiting the National Park(especially while having a night stay).

Food & Other Services at Dhela Forest Rest House

In this FRH there’s no restaurant but you will get a cook with all the utensils, stove and gas available in a kitchen. You have to provide raw material to the cook and he will prepare you the food that you like.

Note:- You will only get vegetarian food inside the National Park because Non-Veg food is not allowed.

Flora & Fauna: Dhela Zone

Dhela Zone consists of forest in which you can see varieties of trees as Sheesam, Dhak, khair and Sisoo. There are many other varieties of the trees which make this zone very diverse. Some of the main types of trees which you can see in this zone are Bel, Kusum, Mahua, Bakli, Jamun, Aamla and Kanju.

You can spot Royal Bengal Tiger, Spotted Deer, Asian Elephant, Barking Deer, Sambar Deer, Chital, Wild Boar and Jackal. If you are a bird lover then you spot Peacock, Jungle Foul, White Bush Chat, Oriental Pied, Emerald Dove, Red Wattle Lapwing, the Asian Paradise Flycatcher, Rested Kingfisher, Indian Shirks, Indian Alpine Swift, Woodpecker, laughing Thrush, Vulture, Parakeet,common Great Hornbill, Parrot,Seagull and other beautiful birds.

How to Reach Dhela Zone

You can reach Dhela zone via Dhela gate which is located 20kms from Ramnagar,Uttrakhand. The entry timing to Dhela Zone from Dhela gate starts from 10:00 AM and ends at 4:00 PM.

Best time to Plan Your Visit Dhela

In winter season (October-February)
You will spot a variety of beautiful and unseen birds along side elephants and many other wild animals. For Bird lovers this is dream time of the year as you can see many unseen birds.

In monsoon season (July-September)
You should not visit the National park during this period of the year cause weather will not be favourable and there will be road blockages due to rain which will make it impossible to make through dense Forest. but if weather condition is good then you can visit this time also cause Jhirna is open throughout the year.

In Summer Season (March-June)
This time of year which includes March to mid of June is called summer season in our country.In summer season, the temperature gets very high as in day time, the temperature may go up to 40 degree centigrade. So if you can enjoy your stay in jungle without air conditioning,cooler and all the luxurious items then this is also a beautiful season to visit and spot tigers.
