Bijrani forest rest house is most popular zone of the Jim Corbett National Park for Jungle Safari among Tourists. Bijrani Zone has tremendous amount of floral and fauna species. After Dhikala zone, Bijrani zone is most preferred zone among tourists for sighting the Royal Bengal Tigers. Bijrani is famous for its very beautiful landscape and you can see the nature at its best here. This place is very calm and peaceful having lesser number of huts compared to Dhikala forest rest house, which is why all the visitors appreciate it. This zone has quite a large population of tigers compared to other zones of the Corbett national park. Birjani zone topography consist of Sal forests mixed with grasslands. Entry Gate for this zone is Amdanda Gate which is approx. two kilometers from the Ramnagar city.
The FRHs available at Bijrani are listed as following:-
1. Bijrani FRH It consists of four double bed rooms, one four bed room & two dormitories available. All rooms are provided with all basic amenities.
2. Malani FRH It has 2 double bed rooms available for the tourists for night stay.
There are all basic amenities (electricity by Solar panels and water etc.) available in this FRHs but if you are looking for a luxury break in these forest lodges then you will be disappointed and it would be better if you book your stay outside of National Park in a luxury Resort. Also you must know that there is bad reception of most of the cellular networks inside the National Park and you will not be provided any Wi-fi facility. Please keep these things in mind while visiting the National Park (especially while having a night stay). But then you’re going to enjoy other aspects of the night stay because you’d be closer to nature and away from your daily life.
In the Bijrani Tourist Complex there’s a very good restaurant (canteen) available which can provide the meals you will require. There you can get buffet meals of decent quality food. As inside the National Park Non-veg food is not allowed so you will be served with Vegetarian food only. For the visitors there’s also a small canteen available for their requirement of snacks, tea and coffee.
At the Malani FRH’s premises there’s no restaurant available but there you will get a cook/helper with all the utensils, stove and gas in the kitchen. You have to provide raw material to the cook and he can prepare the food that you ask him to prepare.
Note:- You will only get vegetarian food inside the National Park because Non-Veg food is not allowed inside the Park.
When it comes to flora at the Bijrani zone boasts of thick Sal forest, Bali flower, Kusum flower, Mahua trees are the main attraction. When it comes to fauna, this zone has several types of Deers (Spotted Deer, Para, The Sambar, Barking deer). Other wild animals like Jackal, Monitor Lizard, Wild boars, Monkeys, Langoors, Peacocks and Wild Hen. It has diverse population of Royal Bengal tigers and Asian elephants which makes this zone one of the best zones to spot tigers & elephants in the wild. This zone is also known for bird lovers as this zone has variety of birds like Common Kingfisher, Asian Paradise Flycatcher, Swan etc. are main attractions for the visitors. You can also see sloth bears in this zone. Bijrani’s terrain is drier than Dhikala and has diverse vegetation which makes the area more scenic.
You can go to the Bijrani zone via Amdanda gate which is located 2 kms from the Ramnagar city in Uttrakhand. The entry timing to Bijrani Zone day visit from Amdanda gate starts from 10:00 AM and ends at 4:00 PM.
In winter season (October-February)
You will spot a variety of beautiful and unseen birds. For Bird lovers this is dream time of the year as you can see many unseen birds.
In monsoon season (July-September)
You should not visit the National park during this period of the year cause weather will not be favourable and there will be road blockages due to rain which will make it impossible to make through dense Forest. And FRHs and Day visit both will be closed during this period.
In Summer Season (March-June)
This time of year which includes March to mid of June is called summer season in our country.In summer season, the temperature gets very high as in day time, the temperature may go up to 40 degree c. So if you can enjoy your stay in jungle without air conditioning,cooler and all the luxurious items then this is also a beautiful season to visit and spot tigers.
The Bijrani Day Safari zone of Corbett Tiger Reserve remains open for tourists from 15th October to 30th June every year. While Night stay in Bijrani Ecotourism Zones is allowed from 15th November to 14th June every year.
