Established in 1936 as Hailey National Park to protect the endangered Bengal tiger, Jim Corbett national park is Asia’s most visited park. Forest covers almost 73% of the park, 10% of the area consists of grasslands and is home to a lot of wild animals and plants.

It falls under the Nainital district, Ramnagar in the Himalayan state of India Uttarakhand.

Jim Corbett national park is located partly along a valley between the Lesser Himalaya in the north and the Shivaliks in the south have a sub-Himalayan belt structure.

Because of its location, its temperature is pleasant as compared to the other protected areas of India. One can experience the beauty of this park by seeing the diversity of flora and fauna.

Jim Corbett National Park comprises an area of 1,318.54 square kilometers including 520 square kilometers of core area and 797.72 square kilometers of buffer area.

Being the oldest park of India Jim Corbett is located in the foothills of the Himalayas, in the uneven mountains with varying heights and the midst of lush greenery of Uttarakhand in the Nainital district.

The altitude of the region ranges between 1,181 ft and 3,412 ft. It has numerous ravines, ridges, minor streams and small plateaus with varying aspects and degrees of slope.

Its location is ideal for all the wild animals and plants to live in and also the visitors get a break from the heat and hectic city life during the summers.

In August 2019, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi appeared in a special episode of Discovery Channel’s show Man vs Wild with the host Bear Grylls, where he trekked the jungles and talked about nature and wildlife conservation with Grylls. The whole episode was filmed in Jim Corbett National Park.
